Grumpy Lamp Fix-Up

Hi-ya folks! Hope you’re having a lovely week. My week has been full of snot and sleep, cialis usa troche as the whole fam-jam has been sick. But don’t worry, cialis canada site we’re on the up-and-up – and despite the aches and pains, I’ve been (finally) working on Felix’ room! I can’t wait to show you guys. It’s not quite done yet, so, in the meantime, I have a quick fix-up tutorial of a lampshade I made for his room.

Adding a personality to inanimate objects makes me ridiculously happy. So, without further ado, I would like to introduce to you, Grumpy Lamp. Sure, he’s got a little attitude but he will shine bright for you, nonetheless. You might not have a lampshade lying around but perhaps there’s a ceramic planter, storage basket or favourite mug that’s begging for a “face-lift.” Here’s the steps on how I gave my old IKEA lampshade life.

You will need:

-Vinyl Sticker (I found these chalkboard stickers at the scrapbook section of the dollar store)

-Cutting Mat

-X Acto Knife

-Circle template (optional)

-A inanimate object of your choice

Make sure you clean the lampshade with hot soapy water beforehand. I recommend also wiping it down with rubbing alcohol for a better sticker stick – grease makes the sticker peel off.

On the back of the vinyl sticker, trace out the shape of the eye. I used a circular template to trace the pupil, first, then drew a black ring around it. Don’t work about having a perfect drawing – there’s character in the mistakes! Next cut out the white sections of the drawing. Easy as that! When placing the sticker onto the lampshape, try not to touch the back of the sticker. Again, grease reduces it’s ability to sick.

If you’re inspired, you can add eyebrows and a mouth, as well. But I think that just eyes are totally suitable for giving anything life. Your lampshade doesn’t have to be grumpy – flip that frown upside-down and rotate those eyebrows to have a whole new expression!

Wasn’t that easy?? Even with a head cold and a sick baby, I was able to do that. And if I can do it, you can too! I’d love to see what you’ve made come to life by placing a face on it. Well, time for me to get back in bed and cuddle a baby.

Peace and Love,
