You guys! Do remember when I made that super cute DIY Painted skull? Well, best cialis I bought another one and I’ve painted it and made it into a planter! Not a planter in the traditional sense where it will drain water, buy viagra but more of a place to keep your plant in between watering. And if you’ve found any good fake succulents lately, this is the perfect planter for you!
Okay pals, this couldn’t be easier.
Styrofoam Skull – I found mine at Michaels
Exacto knife and a spoon*
Plant, fake or real
1 – draw a circle on top of the skull and using the exacto knife, cut out the hole. Then use your *spoon to carve out the depth of the hole. Make it as deep as you’ll need it for the pant to fit in
2 – paint your styrofoam skull white, and then choose whatever colour you’d like to paint the base and paint it! If you want to add a design like I did, go for it. I also chose to paint the hole I cut out, just in case some of it showed through – it’s nice to have a pop of colour. Let it all completely dry
3 – fill the hole with aquarium rocks, air plants, fake plants or a real potted plant – put whatever you want in it!
4 – place it somewhere in your home and be happy you just made something adorable ;)
I did three different plants to show how the versatility of it. This first one is a tiny potted plant I was gifted from my Mother in law on Mothers Day – how sweet! I am a little bit proud the plant is still alive and it’s the perfect size to fit in the skull. This plant will be the one that needs to be taken out whenever it needs to be watered. That will be no problem since it’s in a pot that’s hidden inside the skull!
Here’s how a fake succulent can work. I would go for three fake plants next time, but this is all I had on hand. I think it looks pretty awesome with the aquarium rocks – any colour combo would look great.
My air plants are still growing beautifully. In fact, one of them has bloomed two tiny air plant babies (or whatever). I put a little less of the aquarium rocks in for this as I wanted the air plants to sit just inside the skull. Kind of like hair, hey!?
Of course I have a family of skulls now! Of the possibilities once you throw on some paint. These skulls won’t be going into storage after Halloween is over – why would they when they’re so bright and cheery!
Make one for yourself this weekend, the skulls are on sale at Michaels right now…YAAAASS!
