DIY House Warming Gift

DIY House Warming Gift || Oh Lovely Bows

DIY House Warming Gift || Oh Lovely Bows

Back in September I threw my husband, cialis sales Β Conrad, generic viagra a surprise dessert party for his 30th birthday. A dessert party is where everyone coming brings a dessert homemade or store bought, it doesn’t matter. It’s always a lot of fun to see what everyone brings, plus Conrad has a HUGE sweet tooth, so he’s always pumped to have a party themed around dessert. One of our guests brought candy in the most genius way! Our dear friends Ali and Kevin brought 6 mason jars full of assorted candy in a cardboard 6 pack carrier. It was super cute and something I’d never seen before – I love anything creative that involves cardboard. They got the carrier at a local liquor store – who knew! I knew I wanted to share this great idea with all of you, but in an Oh Lovely Bows way – so Joyelle and I decided to paint the carrier like a house as we think it would be a great DIY for a housewarming gift! Here’s what we did…

Material needed:

6 pack carrier – found at most independent liquor stores – you’ll have to ask, but they’ll have some

acrylic paint – any colour combo you’d like

paint brushes

pencil

6 mason jars

assorted candy to fill the jars

pom pom garland (optional, but totally cute)

hot glue and glue gun – if you’re putting on the garland

Step one – start by drawing out your simple house design with pencil on all sides of your carrier.

Step 2 – Once you’re happy with your design, start painting!

We kept a lot of the carrier the original cardboard colour, because we are fans of it. We filled in some of the shapes with soft and muted colours to suit our style. You can paint Β it any way you’d like. Think about who you’re gifting it to, and what style they’d like.

Step three – We filled all of the jars with different candy. Yogurt dipped pretzels, sour gummies, strawberry poky, colourful marshmallows, and cotton candy. *If you plan on gifting this to someone – wait until the day you are giving it away to fill them! No body wants hard candies when they’re meant to be soft ;)

Yum! And so so cute.

Felix was really into this project. He loves those marshmallows, or as he calls them “Pink Ones”

Step four – Β Glue your pom pom garland to the bottom of the carrier. We chose to only attach it to the front and back, not the sides. Up to you though! I think it looks like grass – adorable. Once your paint is dry and your garland is glued, place your candy filled jars into the carrier, and that’s it!

We added a chimney on one side. It’s my favourite part.

This is seriously the cutest gift you could give to someone. And the best part is you can fill the jars with anything you’d like. We did candy – because who doesn’t like candy? BUT since it is meant for a housewarming gift you could fill the jars with house essentials…q-tips, cotton balls, candles, spices, really anything. I think it would be cute to fill all the jars with plants or air plants. Oh, and of course you could fill the carrier with different types of beer, but we like to think outside the box ;)

I hope you all love this carrier we made – thanks Ali and Kevin for the great idea! AND since it is the holiday season, you could even paint this carrier in a Christmas theme and gift it to the hostess of your next Christmas party. Yaas!! Do it!
